Winter 2012
Cristy and Seth traveled to New York for Thanksgiving. Ahmed and I were thrilled! Seth loved New York, especially the fall leaves. Then I recently visited my hometown of El Paso, TX. Every time I return, I always anticipate having such a great time with family and friends. This time, something really special happened. I spent most of my time with four of my nieces and nephews.
It was clear from the beginning that these kids are super smart and require the utmost respect and attention. So Lu (my best friend) and I went out and bought crayons, markers, coloring books and lots of paper to draw on. We got to work. We had hours of fun during art time. And these kids colored and drew and really expressed themselves with art. By the 3rd day, I knew we had to do something to show their creations. So we had an art show. I used kite string (sister Janie gave it to us) and tied a string from one side of the room to the other. Each child had their own string and they picked out their best work. We hung it and instead of serving wine, which we do sometimes over here in Brooklyn, NY at art galleries, we juiced fresh apple juice.
We invited the aunts over for some fresh juice and art.
Special thank you to Mom, who provided the space.
